5 Tips For Traveling Gluten-Free

About Me

Welcome! I’m Anna, a nomadic storyteller with an appetite for adventure and a passion for social justice and sustainability. Hence why I backpacked around the globe solo, traveled in a tiny home on wheels for 4 years, and now I’m based out of a small off-grid house building a sustainable farmstead.

This is your sign to finally do that thing you’v This is your sign to finally do that thing you’ve been too scared to take a risk on 💛
It’s January 2017. I’m 26, watching the sunset It’s January 2017. I’m 26, watching the sunset over the Manhattan skyline as the day’s last rays shimmer across the Hudson River from the roof of my midtown apartment. The sky is rich with pink clouds and the streets are alive with diversity. Hidden bars and roof top cafes sing out to no one in particular. Someone has managed to get a picnic table up here and it gets used regularly by the building's residents. All of us strangers connected by this small stretch of weathered wood. The city lights flicker into action, giving new life to the air in the sun's absence. I see people and pets living in their fish bowls, now clearly illuminated by the contrast of night and fluorescent bulbs.

I ponder how I can bottle up this magic. The intoxication of jumbled organic energy is something I’ve only experienced in a handful of spots on this planet. I haven’t yet discovered that I’d find another version of this bliss under the sea in Thailand, in the Canadian Rockies, and again in the Colorado wilderness. The opposing magic that exists without human energy, in the space unpolluted by man-made sounds, lights and physical creations. The extremes of these contradictory existences will play tricks on my heart, tickling my desires, and clouding my thoughts.

My phone dings, and I’m brought back to the moment. My boss needs something from me and I remember that I still have to make a choice. I type out my resignation, and exhale. Finally, relief.

A few weeks later, I’m looking down at that same skyline from a plane window, headed to Tokyo. I couldn’t have known yet what I had set in motion. All I knew then, is that I needed the medicinal effects of travel, the high of a new adventure, and the thrill of submerging myself in an unfamiliar culture. I also knew this choice would buy me time to clear my head, with thousands of miles between me and certain dilemmas.

But the silver lining amidst my confusion and doubts, through the modern recipe of travel credit cards, airline miles, a lack of affordable housing in NYC, and Facebook marketplace—subletting my apartment while I travel was the cheapest option for me to regroup.
3 years ago today, we met on a river bank in Monta 3 years ago today, we met on a river bank in Montana. We stayed up all night spilling our hearts under a blanket of stars. We we’re both a little lost, our lives each fit into the separate white vans we called home, but somehow, we were each well on the road to discovering our truest selves. We let ourselves dream of an unconventional future filled with adventure and simplicity. But most importantly, we let each other in, despite our scars.

Who would have known that 3 years later, we’d be making promises for a lifetime in front of our loved ones along another river bank, this time in New Mexico. It all feels like a dream born on a starry night full of possibilities. The magic brought to life by sheer hope and determination.

I know marriage is usually the end of an on-screen romance, but we know life will continue beyond this magical wedding day, And my hope is that our love will continue flowing like the rivers that have brought us together. And when we are met with a rock, or a storm, may it make us stronger. Because together we are unstoppable.

Happy anniversary @ryanthompsontravels 🥂

Today was the chicks first field trip outside. We Today was the chicks first field trip outside. We let them out in the chicken coop for a few hours so they could start to get to know their future home. As a first time chicken mom, I just sat there and watched them peck at the ground for an hour, and it was all very exciting seeing this simple thing I’ve wanted for so long come to life before my eyes.

We’re probably not going to move them into the coop full-time for another week or so, but this was an exciting first step. I really want them to be free range in the whole yard, rather than just the garden but I’m worried about the dogs attacking them. Anyone who has raised chicks with dogs have any tips for getting them used to each other?

I’m not sure why the closed captions got messed up at the end, but maybe it’s the universe’s way of reminding me that dogs REALLY do make life better.
I couldn’t sleep last night. I tossed and turned I couldn’t sleep last night. I tossed and turned, thoughts, feelings and wishes tumbled through my mind about the state of the world, and where I fall into all the chaos. Then I woke up and heard this song, and it struck a chord. The first time I heard it, I cried. And I just thought I’d share it in case anyone else needed these feels today 💛
We are slowly building a glampground on our 5 acre We are slowly building a glampground on our 5 acres of off grid land, but our bell tent flooded this weekend, and then it started raining while we were fixing the rope lines. But, better this happens now and we fix all the kinks before we have guests. 🏕
This is a lesson I’ve been trying to adopt my wh This is a lesson I’ve been trying to adopt my whole life, but it has suddenly become more relevant in the last few months as some relationships in my life have shifted. It’s natural to want answers when someone lets you down. But honestly, often times the answers that make sense for someone else, might not give you what you need. So it’s up to you to make peace with things, even if they don’t add up, even if they fall so wildly short of your expectations, and it just plain hurts. All you can do, is control how you show up for people, and maybe that energy will be matched. But if it’s not, allow space for things to just be as they are.
